We have several events where we invite the public to fly with us. Here an instructor works with a new pilot using two transmitters linked together. The instructor has the master transmitter and the student has the slave transmitter or "buddy box". The master transmitter sends commands to the aircraft. The instructor can allow the student to fly the aircraft or to take over the controls If the student loses control.
Basically the aircraft is controlled by the instructor's transmitter. The student's transmitter is used to send control input to the instructor's transmitter IF the instructor allows it. This way the student can learn from mistakes but not lose the aircraft.
Trainers are usually high wing aircraft, powered by engines running fuel or motors on batteries, there are many different choices to pick from.
Watch our "Event Calendar" for scheduled "Buddy-Box" days or join our Facebook Group "Victor Valley RC Flyers (VVRCF)" and inquire about learning to fly. We have a friendly group of pilots more than willing to teach new pilots.
